Current // NEW YEAR Resolutions

Thursday, July 13, 2017 By Matin 0 Comments

New Year, New Me, Hopefully with the help of these commitments to myself.  MIA, is an understatement.  I have been SO mia this year already.  I just needed a little break at the start of the year.  I took two weeks off after having Christmas, New Year, and most importantly my sister's wedding.  I had a lot going on at the end of 2016.  So I wanted to bring in the new year feeling stress free and ready to take on 2017 with style, restaurant reviews, and hopefully lots of adventures for y'all to be apart of.

I am, yes, in the middle of the month, share a couple 2017 commitments I am making for myself.  I am not calling them resolutions, because I always break those.  These 5 commitments I am making are to better myself and everyone around me.

1. Be realistic about my eating habits:  I travel a lot and I love food.  This combination does not go well for wanting to drop lbs like crazy.  So I am going to make eating yummy and healthy a priority when I am at home.  I am also going to make better decisions about what I eat on the road.  I don't know about you but I just find it painful to deprive myself of all the things I love.  But I also don't want to get out of control or put my health in jeopardy.  So instead of saying "no" to myself everyday. I will think harder about what my body needs instead of what it wants all the time.

2. Stick to my to do list :  I am notorious for just putting it off another day.  Especially with Atlanta traffic.  If I am home, I don't want to leave and get stuck in traffic.  My plan is to have a day where I get all my SHIT done, groceries, errands, returns, mail, ect.  I just want to get done what I need to get done and stop waiting until the last minute.  I am going to start making list and start getting things done.

3. Limit social media in the morning and evening :  this is the hard one.  I, as a blogger and human, love social media morning, noon, and night.  But sometimes it starts getting in the way of relationships.  My goal is to start being away of who is around me and when I am aimlessly scrolling. So my plan is to have a schedule in the morning.  It will hopefully be as followed: Read scripture, have coffee with Reuben, make bed, workout, then a little social media.  Night time cook dinner, spend time with Reuben, conversation, little social, bed.  I also want to give up the social media scrolling before I sleep.  I don't want to be one of those people who does it all the time.  Even though I love it there are other things to do with my time.  Its going to be hard but ultimately I think it will make be better about getting my blog post and social media post planned out and make the time people spend with me much better.

4. Working out :  So this is not my favorite thing to do, but it has to be done.  I turned 30 in 2016 and my body just its looking the way I want it to.  I want to be more toned and a little tighter around the stomach and arm areas.  I also just feel like it makes me feel better when I workout.  I never want to start it but once its over I am 200% glad I did it.  So not much else to be said except for get my butt off the couch and work out.

5. Save that money :  I want 2017 the year my bank account grew 3 times its size.  I want to be ready for any life curve ball.  I want to be able to save I save my money.  I am making goals and sticking to them.  That top or pair of shoes can wait this year.  That doesn't mean I will be doing well fashion post, I just have to work hard on making connections and being creative to bring you the latest fashion trends.

6.  Be kind :  I read a quote on MLK day that said " I have decided to stick with LOVE.  Hate is too great a burden to bear" Martin Luther King said that and meant it.  I want to say this over and over again and mean it.  I don't hate anyone or anything, but I also don't want to even get close to that feeling either.  So in 2017 I chose to always be kind.  This means less road rage, giving that person the parking spot, not getting angry because I am late, not getting political with people, and most of all excepting everyone for who they are even if they don't agree with me.  I found myself being very defensive at the end of 2016 and I don't want to be like that.  I want the Lord to be my center and always be kind to everyone, you never know what they might be going through.

2017 is going to be a year of growth for me.  A year to work and saving for this Georgia girl.  I want to be an example for people around me.  I want to be someone, someone looks up to.  I am going to be that woman who holds her own and makes things happen.  So keep following along.  All your support and constant love for this blog mean the world to me.  Big things are coming for myself and SELL EAT LOVE this year so make sure you keep coming back.

with all my LOVE

Outfit Post // Say Yes to Stripes

Monday, July 10, 2017 By Matin 0 Comments

Hello everyone, we made it to Wednesday.  I am not having that great of a week so I hope all of you out there are.  The transmission in my car died the other day.  It's a very sad day when you have to shell out 4k on a car you just bought 7 months ago.  So moral of that story people is SAVE!!!

So after that memo of my life right now.  Temps have dropped in the south east so I feel ok sharing with you a little stripe sweater look for if you have any trips planned to the colder states.  I also feel like I am starting to sound like a weather woman.  I am keeping yall very up to date with the weather situation down here.  But it truly affects how you dress and what to keep out and what to wait on.  So my stripe inspiration is perfect if you are still feeling like a winter look or move to white denim for a more spring look still keeping warm.

I am heading to Vegas on Monday and then NYC the following Monday.  Dressing for me is becoming a part time job making sure I again check the weather and have the appropriate clothes for each trip.  Because lets all just say there is nothing worse than having the wrong clothes for a trip.

Outfit Post // 5 ways to deal with a break up + Pink Bomber

Sunday, July 9, 2017 By Matin 0 Comments

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.  Today I get to see my sweet mommy and sister in Las Vegas. The past couple of weeks have been hard.  Just to fill you in my boyfriend and I broke up. I don't often share personal things on the blog, but wanted to share and even help someone going through this.

I feel a change happening on the blog platform where people want to know more personal things about people and how or tips to cop with these difficult situations.  So I am sharing my 5 things to help you deal with a break up.

1. Have a peaceful break up : there is nothing worse than a mean and angry break up.  You say things you didn't mean and hurt one another for no reason.  Be sweet and who knows what can happen when you are in a better state of mind.

2. Keep yourself busy :  I have been traveling a lot, went to a blog conference, working a lot, and reconnecting with friends.  I made a big effort when I was in my relationship to keep my friends close.  I wanted them to be apart of our relationship, but also when something happens you aren't left alone and with no friends.

3. Take back your schedule :  when you are working around 2 peoples schedule some of your favorite things you did when single go to the waste side.  So start watching your favorite TV show again, hit up that cool gym with cute boys, go shopping, join a new church, or have happy hour drinks with an old friend.  So much to do to keep you busy and bring some of the things you love to do back into your life.

4. Go to church :  this really should be #1.  Find a new fun church.  Not that you are going there to meet boys, you are going there to meet new friends.  You have to put yourself out there in a good place to have love and friendship find you.  Plus God is in control of all so if its on your heart, just know He is calling you there. So grab and friend and head to visit Jesus.

5. Put yourself out there : this is most important.  You cant quit.  You have to put yourself out there for others to meet you.  You never know who can set you up or introduce you to someone special.  I used to take a dating detox, wrong.  You cant stay home and morn the lost of someone who you don't need to be with anymore. Chances are they aren't at home morning either.  So get dressed up, do your hair and makeup, and meet up with good friends and family.   If you don't put yourself out there you will always be alone.

So with that being said, here is a fun little night out on the town outfit inspiration for you.  The bomber is a big trend right now.  Its a great layering look for weird weather and adds some edge and style to your basic jeans.  I am also still loving velvet and these shoes from holiday are the perfect shoe for a night out with your girls.  Its fun and flirty, well heck and I am thirty.

Current // Weekend Review

Monday, March 6, 2017 By Matin 0 Comments

Ok Loves, this past week and weekend were so jam packed with a big trip to New York City, a workshop, conference, and a powerful movie that really hit home.  I want to share a little from each event with you.
I am going to also fill you in on my new blog schedule.  I want to start giving you more than outfit ideas.  I am feeling a change coming to Sell Eat Love that I think you will like.

The week started with a trip to NYC with Reeves & Co for Coterie.  Our brands and specialty stores came together to sell and buy fall 2017. Yes, you read that right we haven't even gotten to wear spring yet and the fashion industry has already moved onto fall.  We have to do that to book sales and then produce the product to be shipped to the stores and websites for you to go and buy from.  If you follow along on instagram and snapchat I showed off a couple of my favorite trends and styles.

When working hard you have to treat yourself.  So Analeise and I treated ourselves to an amazing Italian dinner on Fat Tuesday.  We wined and dined ourselves on what we were giving up for lent. The restaurant Rossopomodoro did just that wined and dined us.  We felt so special and well taken care of during our entire dinning experience.  We started with the burratta and some tasty meats and cheeses.  Then we each indulged in a pasta dish, mine was the Rigatone Alla Genovese.

God is so good and leads us right to Him in every way he can.  I was going back and forth about joining and volunteering at Passion City Church.  But with the break up and my need to be surrounded by people who love the Lord I felt the calling was to big to ignore.  So I signed up and to my surprise Passion was hosting the us conference.  This conference is for all the people who are committed to helping make Passion City Church what it is,  these people are called the door holders. I learned so much and felt the Lord showing us all His love to us through praise and worship and fellowship.  I am so excited about this next chapter of my walk with Christ and being a door holder for people to come and be with Jesus is the greatest honor.

Saturday night I went to see one of the most powerful movies I have seen in a long time.  Not only did I cry the majority of the movie but it also brought a call to action inside me where I want to help all the children who are homeless and orphaned from their familes.  These poor children get separated from their parents, siblings, or family members and have no idea how to get home.  Worse most get caught my sex traffickers and are never found again.  This has to stop, it has to end.  You can help by becoming an activist with End It Movement.  I must remind you that first you are a christian and then you are an activist.  You have to ask yourself who are you doing this for?  I am doing this for Jesus and in His name to help children in America and all over the world be given the rightful childhood they deserve.

Lastly my Sunday was full of yummy food, new friends, and lots of learning from the ladies who started The Preach Peach Workshop. Shelby and Luisa are full of so much information to make your blog and business the best it can be. I am so excited to join the community of creatives who love to support and help one another be successful.  These ladies condensed a 2 day workshop into a four hour lunch at Bartaco.  They also had a guest speaker, my new friend, Brittany the girl behind Loverly Grey .  Brittany has a great instagram following that grew so quickly over the past year.  It makes me so excited to work hard and be focused on my blog and the content I put out there.  This was the perfect way to end a busy weekend.  I feel motivated and focused on what I want to accomplish the next couple of months.

I know this was a long blog post but I just had so much to share with you.  I hope everyone has a productive week.  Just remember to work smarter not harder.  Stay on task and get one thing done at a time.

with Love from my bed, so tired

Outfit Post // Lavender Love

Friday, March 3, 2017 By Matin 0 Comments

Who else has been missing color in the wardrobe?  I know I have,  I have been wearing lots of neutrals lately.  But then came this lavender top from one of my favorite brands B Collection.  I loved mixing the soft lavender with the hard black motto jacket.
This week I previewed and sold fall 2017 to the specialty stores of the south east.   If you follow along on instagram and snapchat I showed off a couple of my favorites from brands like Crosby, Buckley K, and B Collection.  One of the trends I noticed was the color lavender.  I know the color of the year is greenery and don't worry there is plenty of that coming for you.  The call out for color has been heard and lavender is coming in strong and was ordered a lot.  Of course it goes with white denim but as you can see blue denim looks great as well.  I also think this purple hue will look great with grey denim as well for the fall months.

Coterie was very interesting lots of different trends going on and I feel like some brands are doing what they do best instead of copying each other.  I am going to do a trend report next week for you with my top 5 I found in New York.  I loved seeing my specialty stores from the southeast.  They are working hard to bring you the coolest and most special pieces.

Outfit Post // Soft Hues

Tomorrow is a big day.  Do you know what day it is?  Its #endit day.  The day we as a nation say no more sex trafficking and really put our selves out there to educate our fellow neighbor.   I am going to be taking a stand and wearing a big red X on my had to tell everyone I want to help #endit.
Hopefully just by seeing this post you will learn about this mission and movement and join the fight. Visit https://enditmovement.com/ to learn more.

I also am still on my market tour.  Finishing up the last day in Vegas and then head back to Atlanta to unpack and pack again for the big apple for coterie.  I am pretty excited about going to nyc but not excited about the cold.  I hate the cold but I love that city.

This look will prob be coming with me to the big apple pending a weather update.  Again me and the weather.  I wish it could be 75 all year round.  But anyways I hope Monday's post was helpful to someone.  It was a lot for me to put out there and I hope it was received well.

One more note, as I visit these trade shows I am starting to see some really awesome trends.  I am going to try and get some snaps of different trends and do a little forecasting post for you in a week or so.  Just some things for you to look forward to in the coming spring and summer months.
